Ronda Rousey called out of retirement by UFC Champion Julianna Pena
Rousey retired from MMA after suffering consecutive knockout losses and Pena has welcomed her return to the cage after she recently won the UFC bantamweight title
Julianna Pena has brought up an old call out from Ronda Rousey in an attempt to lure the retired UFC star into a fight.
Pena provided the biggest UFC upset of 2021 when she submitted two-weight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 to win the bantamweight title.
The fight was Pena’s first-ever shot at UFC gold and it also marked the consensus female ‘GOAT’ Nunes’ first defeat in over seven years.
Pena admitted she didn’t get along with Rousey when she appeared as a contest on season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter in 2013.
‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ was on Rousey’s rival Miesha Tate’s team during the season and was awarded a UFC contract after winning the competition.
And Pena said Rousey vowed to “kick her ass” one day after she won The Ultimate Fighter.

“We’re not friends, we don’t speak,” Pena told The New York Post.
“She really had a tough time getting along with me on The Ultimate Fighter. She didn’t like me at all because I was friends with Miesha Tate. She wasn’t the nicest.”

“It would be amazing to pull Ronda Rousey back out of retirement. It would be great to have her come back to UFC and fight again.
“I don’t know that she’ll recall this because she ended up getting taken out by her entire team.
“But when we won ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and got out of the house, she told me that, ‘You’re gonna give me a tougher fight than Miesha Tate, but when that day comes I’m still gonna kick your ass.’”
Rousey is considered a pioneer in women’s MMA as she took part in the first women’s fight in UFC history, submitting Liz Carmouche with her trademark armbar in 2013.

‘Rowdy’ – an Olympic bronze medalist in judo – would go on to dominate her opponents in the UFC even winning two of her title defences in under 20 seconds.
But after going unbeaten in 12 fights, she finally met her match in 2015 when she was outclassed and brutally knocked by former boxing world titleholder Holly Holm.

She took a year away from the sport before returning against Nunes in an effort to win back her belt, but was knocked out in under a minute.
If Pena is to lure Rousey into a fight, it will likely have to wait as the champion is expected to rematch Nunes in her next fight.
UFC president Dana White even stated their second fight will will be the “biggest women’s fight of all-time”.

A Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight wouldn’t be blocked by an obligation on Fury’s part to meet a mandatory challenger.
Fury was taking a mandatory defence when he defeated Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium earlier this year.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Sky Sports, “Fury made his mandatory defence in April. He is in a voluntary stage and the WBC will determine all mandatories of all divisions at the convention in Acapulco on November.”
Heavyweights are already jostling for position to eventually become Fury’s mandatory. Andy Ruiz beat Luis Ortiz in an eliminator and Deontay Wilder will box Robert Helenius in another eliminator in October.
“The WBC has sanctioned those two bouts and the Board will review each division [in November],” Sulaiman said.

It means they can’t impose Joshua, who has lost his last two fights to Oleksandr Usyk, as a mandatory for the heavyweight title. But Fury could fight him as a voluntary, especially if it takes place next.

“The WBC cannot mandate such bout, that would be against the rules and against the rights of champion Fury,” Sulaiman said.
But he added, “Fury vs Joshua will always be an interesting match, especially for the UK. Fury is without a doubt the best heavyweight of today and is in his prime.”

After already offering Anthony Joshua a 60-40 purse split, Tyson Fury has two dates this year in mind for that potential fight.
Fury wants to take it to Wembley Stadium on November 26 or the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 3.
“Why not give him 40 per cent? Give him no excuses and let’s get the fight made for the British public,” Fury told Talksport.

“I have seen that they are trying to wriggle a little bit with the date because we officially have Manchester United’s football ground booked for November 12, however they are saying that is too short.
“So, what I have got that’s even better than that is Wembley Stadium booked for November 26 of this year. And if he doesn’t want to go to Wembley at the end of November, I even have a December date for him – December 3 at Cardiff.

“One of them is 11 weeks [away], one is 12,” he added, “so if a professional athlete who is shredded all year round can’t get himself in shape in three months, there is a problem.”
Anthony Joshua has said he would be ready to fight world champion, Tyson Fury in December 2022.
The British boxer noted this while reacting to a public challenge on Monday for a ‘Battle of Britain.’
Joshua had lost his title rematch in August, in Saudi Arabia to Ukraine’s champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
However, it looks like the 32-year-old is eager to return to the ring before the end of 2022.

When they met in a rematch in 2020, it was a very different story as Fury switched tactics completely, walking Wilder down, dropping him twice and stopping him in seven rounds.
Their 2021 trilogy showdown was almost a combination of the first two fights.

At the end of a brutal battle, the Brit downed the American for a second time in round ten before getting the KO in the eleventh.
Wilder has not fought since this defeat, but is now scheduled to return against Robert Helenius on October 15.
Joshua too is now planning a comeback after suffering his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
As a result, there has been talk about a potential AJ vs Wilder showdown finally coming to fruition in 2023.
Reacting to this speculation, Fury told SecondsOut: “I’ve always said who wins that fight – Wilder.
“Soon as he hits him, one-punch knockout. See you later, bye bye.”
Wilder, though, is being eyed by Andy Ruiz Jr, who beat Luis Ortiz on Sunday night and he seems open to the idea.
“Deontay Wilder’s back, we’re always looking for great, exciting fights. If that’s what lies up next, I’ve gotta handle business, but after that we can get it on,” he said.
Anthony Joshua is set to take on Oleksandr Usyk this August in Saudi Arabia, looking to avenge his defeat last year. Tyson Fury has had his say on the fight, saying the Ukrainian will win via knockout.
Fury has put it down to AJ’s new trainer Robert Garcia. He believes that with his game plan, he’ll be knocked out inside seven rounds.
In fact, the Gypsy King believes he is the only man that can help Joshua win his fight, given Fury’s record and stature, it’s no surprise to see this claim.
Both Fury and Joshua normally tower over their opponents size wise and Fury is undefeated, so surely he knows the best way to go about fighting smaller opponents.
Talking to Queensbury Promotions, Fury went on to say: “Unless Anthony Joshua gets his a** up to Morecambe and lets me train him for this fight, Robert Garcia and 10 men like him will not make him beat Usyk.
“Because: One, they don’t know him; two, they don’t know what he’s got in his engine; and three, he’s not a little Mexican who can go toe to toe with someone for 15 rounds.

“If he gets on Usyk from Round 1 and tries to push and be aggressive, he’ll be gassed out after four rounds and get stopped in seven.
“But if he comes to Morecambe Bay and I teach him how to be a real fighting man for 12 rounds and how to deal with these little middleweight people, then he will get a win. But other than that, I see him getting beat again. Two in a row, baby and it’s over.”
There’s no doubting that Fury is clearly confident in his claim and looking at his record, he probably does know the key for AJ to win this fight.
Also, if Joshua loses again, it will set his career back massively, no belts and no claim to fight the best, it will take some recovering from and hard work to get back to where he is now.

Joshua will be desperate to avenge his unanimous decision defeat to Usyk and reclaim the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts.
The Mancunian continued: “But if he wants to resurrect his career, please come up to the man who’s never lost a fight in his life, been undefeated for 13 years and retired as only the second heavyweight in history to be on top of the game – won every belt in history there is to win.
“It all goes on what Robert Garcia’s gameplan is and how quick he wants [Joshua] to get chinned.
“To have a style of keep coming forward and putting pressure on somebody, when you’re a big man like he is and like I am, you need to have two V12 engines. You need to be able to take punches as well and you need to have balls like King Kong. None of them three of the above does he have.”

Last Saturday night, Tyson Fury announced to the crowd that he would be willing to take on Anthony Joshua for free at London’s Wembley Stadium during his Victory Tour.
Joshua and Fury’s fight, according to Fury, should be free to the public and televised without pay-per-view. However, whether or not a fight with Fury is free, Joshua must defeat Oleksandr Usyk on August 20 for that to happen. If Joshua loses to Usyk once more, it will be pointless.
In other words, Fury’s request is unreasonable because the promoters and financiers who organize major fights like Joshua vs. Fury will never consent to such a crazy idea.
Very unlikely for this fight to happen
Sadly, Joshua will probably fall to Usyk once more, and Fury will need to come up with a catchphrase for that match.
During his Victory Tour, Fury criticized Joshua, saying, ” It’s all about the money, Mr. Businessman; he’s not a fighting man. I swear to God I hope he wins the fight against Usyk so that I can come out of retirement and fight him for free.”
In response to the criticism he has received from fans following his demand for $500 million to come out of retirement and challenge the victor of Joshua vs. Usyk II, it appears that Fury is in damage control mode.

So by announcing that he will fight for free, Fury seems to be trying to change the perceptions of those who currently see him as a greedy materialist who is too lazy to get up off the couch and face the Joshua-Usyk 2 winner.
“However, the terms are this: I want it at Wembley Stadium, I want it free to enter, and I want it on free-to-air television in this country,” said Fury. “I’ll fight him in England, not abroad in a foreign country for more money; here for free for the people.”
