How Sir Lewis Hamilton can give Sir Martin Broughton consortium Chelsea bid edge over Boehly

Published

on

Sir Lewis Hamilton’s claim to Chelsea is more than just business and the fundamental benefit has gone over a few heads\

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - APRIL 09: Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and Great Britain during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Australia at Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit on April 09, 2022 in Melbourne, Australia.

Sir Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have joined Sir Martin Broughton’s bid to buy Chelsea. Hamilton is currently a seven-time Formula 1 World Drivers Champion. Williams is a 23-time grand slam winner and is hailed as a formidable, game-changing, tennis champion.

There are a number of reasons as to why Chelsea fans have been left alarmed by the thought, but to be honest, I cannot think of a reason strong enough to oppose the idea. Todd Boehly remains the fan favourite and also my own. His plans for the club align perfectly with the change many of us want to see. Especially in regards to recruitment and scouting. However, Broughton has caught my attention by attaining the backing of certified, sore losers.

They embody everything that Chelsea fans are. We do not like to lose, and neither do Williams or Hamilton. Let’s address the elephant in the. room. Lewis Hamilton is an Arsenal fan. He has been since he was young and has explained his journey into becoming a football fan during a press conference ahead of his race in Imola last weekend.

After confirming his involvement in Broughton’s bid he said: “From five or six years old I became a supporter of Arsenal but my uncle Terry is a big blues fan so I’ve been to so many games with him to watch Arsenal and Chelsea play.

“Ultimately I’m a sporting fan. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world and one of the most successful. When I heard about this opportunity I was like ‘wow’; this is one of the greatest opportunities to be part of something so great.”

Chelsea fans have been in full support against the Ricketts family’s bid for the club. Their alleged racist background has not sat well with the majority, forcing them to withdraw their bid amidst the protests. Sir Martin Broughton seeks to continue the magnificent work that Chelsea has done with regard to equality and inclusivity and that’s why Hamilton has been bought into the equation.

“They’ve been quite leading in their work in D&I [diversity and inclusion] and becoming more diverse and progressive,” added Hamilton.

“Our goal is to continue the work that they have already done and have even more of an impact and engage more with the community.”

What more would you require from a part-owner of a football club? A champion with a winning mentality does not seem to be solely business driven and wants to improve the work in diversity and inclusion.

Broughton is understood to be confident that his group of investors would hand Chelsea access to the most capital of the three consortiums competing to buy the Stamford Bridge club.

I wouldn’t put all my stocks in the Broughton consortium, but there is no reason to actually be against Sir Lewis Hamilton’s involvement. The major concern is that he is an Arsenal fan. Well, Boehly’s consortium is partnered with Johnathan Goldstein, a lifelong Tottenham fan. At least we can say that Arsenal have seen some form of success in living memory, eh?

Putting the jokes aside, both consortiums are led by lifelong Chelsea fans. That’s the main focus, they are the decision makers.

Novak Djokovic: Wimbledon champion can defend title as organisers allow unvaccinated to play

Don't Miss

of labor. I was completely in the moment. I loved the cramps. I loved feeling my body trying to push the baby out. I wasn’t on an epidural; to get through it, I was using my breath and all the techniques I’d learned from birth training (I had taken every birthing class that the hospital had to offer). By the next morning, the contractions were coming harder and faster. With each one, my baby’s heart rate plummeted. I was scared. I thought I should probably get an epidural, but I was still okay with the work so I didn’t. Every time the baby’s heart rate dropped, the nurses would come in and tell me to turn onto my side. The baby’s heart rate would go back up and everything seemed fine. I’d have another contraction, and baby’s heart rate would drop again, but I’d turn over and the rate would go back up, and so on and so forth. “Being an athlete is so often about controlling your body, wielding its power, but it’s also about knowing when to surrender.” Outside my birthing room, there were meetings going on without me—my husband was conferencing with the doctors. By this point, I was more than ready for the epidural, but after 20 minutes, the doctor walked in, looked at me, and said, “We’re giving you a C-section.” She made it clear that there wasn’t time for an epidural or more pushing. I loved her confidence; had she given me the choice between more pushing or surgery, I would have been ruined. I’m not good at making decisions. In that moment, what I needed most was that calm, affirmative direction. Since it was my first child, I really wanted to have the baby vaginally, but I thought to myself, “I’ve had so many surgeries, what’s another one?” Being an athlete is so often about controlling your body, wielding its power, but it’s also about knowing when to surrender. I was happy and relieved to let go; the energy in the room totally changed. We went from this intense, seemingly endless process to a clear plan for bringing this baby into the world. I was nervous about meeting my baby. Throughout my pregnancy, I’d never felt a connection with her. While I loved being pregnant, I didn’t have that amazing Oh my God, this is my baby moment, ever. It’s something people don’t usually talk about, because we’re supposed to be in love from the first second. Yes, I was a lioness who would protect her baby at any cost, but I wasn’t gushing over her. I kept waiting to feel like I knew her during pregnancy, but the feeling never came. Some of my mom friends told me they didn’t feel the connection in the womb either, which made me feel better, but still, I longed for it. When I finally saw her—and I just knew it was going to be a girl, that was one thing I knew about her before we even had it confirmed—I loved her right away. It wasn’t exactly instantaneous, but it was there, and from that seed, it grew. I couldn’t stop staring at her, my Olympia. serena williams and her daughter olympia

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Will Happen Promoter Warren Vows

Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has promised to ensure fans’ yearning for a unification bout with Anthony Joshua happens this year telling the BBC that “we will make it happen” in response to fans’ wishes.

All heavyweight titles now reside in Britain for the first time in history after Fury, 31, stunned Deontay Wilder, 34, on Sunday to claim the WBC title.

Tyson Fury

Joshua, whose last fight was in Saudi Arabia, holds the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had earlier stated his wish to make the fight happen in the aftermath of Fury’s stunning 7th round stoppage of Wilder and reiterated his stance on Monday.

“Of course we want to see the fight,” Warren told BBC Sport. “We’ve been trying to make it for two years.”

“Hearn kept saying was it’s got to be 70/30 [the purse] in favour of AJ and so on and so fourth.

“The tables have turned now. I have no problem with 50/50. I think Tyson would deserve more but 50/50, no problem.

“This is about the boxers and more importantly the fans. If they want to see the fight we will make it happen.

“In the meantime, Eddie Hearn is acting like the guy standing outside your house with his nose pressed up against the window and keeps spouting off about Tyson.”

Tyson Fury

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn speaking to Sky Sports on Monday said he would do everything possible to agree a deal, and both sides would be “clowns” and “idiots” if the fight which could be the biggest in the history of the sport failed to hold.

“Everybody is very clear on this. Everybody wants this fight — Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, MTK, Top Rank, Frank Warren, Matchroom,” said Hearn, referring to those involved on both sides.

“There are some hurdles to overcome on the broadcasting, but nothing too much.

“I promise you this fight will happen.”

Tyson Fury

Any prospects of a fight between the British heavyweights hinges on the fact Wilder has the option of a rematch with Fury and has 30 days to invoke a clause in his contract.

Hearn says if that happens then Joshua, 30, will face Kubrat Pulev in a mandatory IBF bout, with the promoter in talks to hold the fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 20 June.

Who is Jelena Djokovic? Learn more about the wife of Novak Djokovic and more about the Djokovic family

Jelena Djokovic is the wife of Novak Djokovic and has been supporting the 20-time Grand Slam winner for a long time

Novak Djokovic is one of the top tennis players in the world and is on course to break several records in his career.

Novak Djokovic

The Serbian is now tied with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer with 20 Grand Slams under his belt. Djokovic is also the best placed to break this record and more but there is a rock that supports him outside of the tennis court.

Meanwhile, Djokovic is regularly cheered on during most of his matches by his wife Jelena – but who is she and what do we know about her?

Who is Novak Djokovic’s wife?
Jelena Djokovic and Novak started dating back in 2005, two years after the Serbian turned pro and have been together since then.

According to sources the pair met each other at school and got engaged in 2013 and married within the next year.

A huge fan of Instagram, Jelena regularly shares photos of her loved ones and husband on her personal feed.

She is also the director of their charity, the Novak Djokovic Foundation, which aims to help children in Serbia realise their dreams by enhancing the country’s education system. Some might not know, but Jelena is also an avid blogger and shares a lot of personal stories and advice.

How many children do they have?
The couple have two children as of now. They both became parents to a baby boy named Stefan, who was born in October 2014 and three years later Djokovic confirmed that he once again.

This time it was a daughter. They welcomed the arrival of their daughter Tara in September 2017, when Jelena was visibly absent from her husband’s matches during the Wimbledon matches that were happening at the moment.

Is Jelena Djokovic always accompanying Novak to Grand Slams?
Unlike most of the other times, Jelena did not accompany her husband a couple of years back in the Australian Open as she was busy taking care of other work.

Novak Djokovic

The fact that Djokovic was missing his family was very evident in his words when he said he was looking forward to meeting his family after being separated from them for more than five weeks due to the tour.

She was also not visible during his Wimbledon campaign prior to the AO despite being in London. She was looking after their daughter Tara while their son Stefan was seen in the Centre Court with Djokovic’s parents.

It seems she is not in Australia for the 2021 Australian Open. However, Jelena was quick to show her support to her husband. Novak has been going through a tough time in Australia over his Covid-19 vaccination status. The 20-time Grand Slam had been detained in a hotel but has since been released and allowed to participate in the tournament, for now.

Tokyo Olympics: Simone Biles reunites with boyfriend back in Texas at NFL practice

Simone Biles reunited with boyfriend Jonathan Owens back in Texas as she attended his NFL team’s practice in Houston.

The Olympic great on Thursday arrived back in the United States from Tokyo, where she won a bronze medal in the beam after pulling out of a string of other events to concentrate on her mental health.

Simone Biles

Ms Biles was greeted by her family and hundreds of cheering fans as she arrived back at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport from the Tokyo 2020 games.

She spent the day at the training camp and even posted a picture of their pair together on Instagram

“Morning with bae,” she wrote on on e social media post, while on another she said, “open practices aka bring your girlfriend to work day.”

Ms Biles lives near her parents and currently dates Mr Owens, a defensive player who is on a two-year contract worth $1.39m with the Texans.

“He would say I slid into his DMs,” Ms Biles told The Wall Street Journal.

Simone Biles

“I saw him and I was like, ‘Oh, he’s pretty cute,’ so I said hi … and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later.”

Her sister eventually interrupted a FaceTime call and invited Mr Owens on a lake house trip, to which he brought his English bull dog Zeus, and Ms Biles took along her French bulldog, Lilo.

(AP)
Mr Owen has told Texas Monthly that he did not know who Ms Biles was when they first met, despite her international success and fame.

Ms Biles, 24, won four Olympic gold medals at Rio 2016 in the team event, the individual all-around, the vault, and the floor exercise, as well as a bronze medal in the balance beam.

Roger and Mirka Federer Have His & Hers Rolex Watches

Roger and Mirka Federer were probably at home enjoying another picturesque morning in Valbella, Switzerland, boning up on their King James Bible, when they stumbled on this line in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12: “Two are better than one.” Because, earlier this week, the Federers lived the maxim when they were both spotted wearing top-notch Rolex watches. For if one Rolex fails, the other one will keep on ticking for its fellow. This is the type of attitude expected

Roger Federer

from GQ’s Most Stylish Man of the Decade. The honor isn’t earned through an inward, self-centered devotion to dressing well, but from a mindset that permeates everything around him—if Mr. Federer is wearing a great Rolex, Mrs. Federer surely needs to have one on her wrist as well. And what a week in watches it was: Jay-Z is back with another icon, and everyone else unleashed their best bling.

Apologies to Roger, but he must hold two Ls this week. The first is for falling to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals at the Australian Open. The second is about watches. Because Rog’s Day-Date II is nice and all, but pales in comparison to the watch his wife wore while watching the match from the stands. Her Rolex Daytona, with a spectrum of sapphires circling around the bezel, is aptly nicknamed the “Rainbow”—fitting not just for the obvious reason, but because every time one appears it’s a day-brightening treat. Mr. Federer is a longtime Rolex ambassador; we’d suggest the brand sign up his wife, too.

He wore a reversible $2.2 million Patek Philippe, a super-modern Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, a $2.5 million completely unique Richard Mille, plus—and this one was a toughie—he used $40,000 Rolex Daytonas as invites to his gala. But last weekend at the Grammys, Jay-Z showed that his watch knowledge goes deeper than the biggest names in timepieces. He wore yet another watch with a flippable case, this time the iconic Reverso from Jaeger-LeCoultre. It was first released in 1931 and Jay is wearing the rose-gold 80th-anniversary edition—one of only 500 in the world.

In 1993, the world was introduced to a revolutionary new product. It bucked the norms of how we expected it to appear—as it had appeared for many decades—by spilling out into your cup as a completely clear liquid rather than the bubbly brown cola people were accustomed to. This product was Crystal Pepsi, and it was not long for this world. In 2020, Trevor Noah brought to Music’s Biggest Night another revolutionary new product. This new product, released in the spring of 2019, is also a twist on a classic, but we think this one has the power to stick around forever. And, for what should be obvious reasons, it only makes sense we would also call this the “Crystal Pepsi” Rolex.

His Sky-Dweller, like the GMT, was made for exactly this type of world travel, allowing its wearer to see the time in two different places at once.
